How do I find my URN/SEED number?

There are a few methods you can use to find your URN/SEED number.

Note: A URN/SEED number is your school's unique reference number. You should be able to find your URN/SEED number in your school's Management Information System.

Method 1. The Government Website ๐Ÿ’ป

 Step 1. You will need to use the 'Get Information' page on the government website. Access this webpage here.

Step 2. Enter the name of your school.

Step 3. Select your school from the list and take the URN from the information provided.

If your school is in Scotland, then the above will not apply. For Scottish schools, a SEED number is required. To find your SEED number, follow the steps below. 

Step 1. Access your government website here.

Step 2. Select the 'Find a School' tab and you will see a directory of Local Authorities listed in a drop-down menu.

Step 3. Select your Local Authority and you will be able to search for your school on the subsequent page.SEED number Parentzone

Method 2. Your Local Authority. 

Step 1. Call your Local Authority and ask them what your URN is. 

Tip: To find contact information for your council, select here.

Note: If you are not a school (for example, you are a Local Authority or Multi-Academy Trust), you will not have a URN/SEED number. Populate the URN/SEED number field in the Safer Schools Portal with 'not applicable' if this is the case, and one will be randomly generated for you upon processing.
